ROBERT VAN HOWE, MD, MS

Dr. Van Howe, a Board Certified Pediatrician, has published extensively on the health impact and ethical considerations associated with infant male circumcision. He has lectured internationally and has served as a consultant with the American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

He completed his medical school training at Loyola University — Stritch School of Medicine following a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and chemistry at Saint Olaf College. He completed his pediatrics residency at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and later earned a Masters of Science in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis at the University of Michigan School of Public Health.

Dr. Van Howe was the founding Professor and Chief of Pediatric at the Central Michigan University College of Medicine.

After three decades of practicing general pediatrics in private and academic practices in both rural and urban settings, he took a position in public health in just before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. He is on track to receive his Masters of Public Health from Michigan State University.

Dr. Van Howe has nearly 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals and lectured extensively.

Lisa Braver Moss is Co-Founder & President of Bruchim, a Jewish nonprofit advocating for the needs of non-circumcising families in Jewish life. She has written and lectured extensively on being both an active, engaged Jew and a vocal circumcision critic. Lisa penned the first-ever novel about Jewish circumcision, The Measure of His Grief. She is co-author of Celebrating Brit Shalom, a book of original ceremonies and music for families holding an alternative bris.

Lisa’s essays have appeared in Parents, the Huffington Post, Lilith, and many other publications. Her nonfiction book credits include Celebrating Family: Our Lifelong Bonds with Parents and Siblings and, as co-author, The Mother’s Companion: A Comforting Guide to the Early Years of Motherhood. Her most recent book is the multiple-award-winning novel Shrug.

Born in Berkeley, California, Lisa still lives in the area with her husband, with whom she has two grown sons and two intact grandsons.

Tora Spigner has been an intactivist since 1990, a doula since 1995, & a Labor & Delivery Nurse since 1997. She has been a Maternity adjunct professor since 2016 & a member of the Berkeley Health Commission since 2018.

Tora received her BS in Medical Technology from Michigan State University, Master of Liberal Studies in Interdisciplinary Studies, Focus on Health and Public Administration from Eastern Michigan University, & a Master of Nursing Education from San Francisco State University.

Wendy Molinaroli is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Nationally Certified Counselor, a Certified Gottman Methodology Couple’s Therapist, a Certified Sex Addictions Therapist, & an EMDR-certified therapist.
